Studying Insects!

What a wonderful day we had in Edinburgh. The Man and I ventured into the city while #2 Daughter had varios appointments. We got on a bus and the first stop was the Botanical Gardens, where we very quickly met up with blipper, Kaybee, as arranged.

After settling ourselves in with a coffee we headed to the hall to see Microsculpture - The Insect Portraits of Levon Biss. It was amazing! You can see from the scale shown by the blip of Jerra and Kaybee axamining one, that they measure about 10' x 6'. The short film of their creation was fascinating, too.

The three of us had lunch and a long natter before we went our separate ways. The Man and I wandered around the garden then headed back into the city centre for our first experience of the Edinburgh Festival and The Fringe.

Kat's friend had taken time off work to run a Fringe Show with her partner on the urgent need for action to halt global warming. The full IPCC Special Report On Global Warming Of 1.5°C, was read aloud aloud over 5 days and was done so by politicians, activists, climate scientists, etc. Tonight's content was an hour long  summary of the salient points of the previous 5 days.

There were too many of us to fit into the container box "theatre" so we sat/stood outside and were invited to take part in the reading. The banner on the side of the container had printed on it the entire bibliography for the report to emphasise the scope of reasearch. See Extra.

For decades we have been warned that it would be devastating to the world's population if global warming increased by 2°C. Due to recent reasearch by small island states it was realised that limiting it to 1.5 degrees was more appropriate and it seems we're already at 1°. The call was Act Now!
