Numb with shock

Following on from yesterday after visiting the vets with Mimi , she was given an anti sickness injection but when she got home she’s refused to eat and drink. She very quickly went downhill and died. How does these happen from a sickness bug. It’s a question I will continue to ask myself for a long time
