Heather

A nature reserve, once farmland then became a golf course. In the late 1930s it was requisitioned for the construction of an airfield, the airfield is still in use today by the RAF. The nature reserve is adjacent to it and it was used as a training area until about 25 years ago.
For a short time in August the heather is in full bloom.
