Walking up Mt Victoria

For my third walk of the year (I did two yesterday) I walked on Mt Victoria along part of the Southern Walkway. Although walkers and trampers consider this to be an easy walk, it is steeper than I am used to but certainly not 'challenging'.

Rik drove me there and decided to join us on the walk. 'Us' was our friend, Lucy; Susanne, who runs the walking group Wellywalks; and Jenny, a new member of the group.

We walked for a little over an hour and a half and did just over 4km. The walk had a variety of steps, flat paths, steepish bits, shady trees and open areas. Lucy had brought a map she had printed from the Council website. Unfortunately, they provide a satellite view map, nnot a road/path map and all you can see is trees. In many places the signs were missing but we only got lost once.

There are some wonderful views from Mount Victoria but, as the day was quite windy, we decided not to go all the way to the top. I will do that another time. I have seen the view a few times but got up there by car.

We walked back down and went to the Embassy and sat in the comfy chairs and had lunch and chatted for a while before going home.
