5 Years ago today

We had been in California for almost 3 weeks waiting on the arrival of this Fire Ant! She was almost 10 days late and made her appearance on the day we were to fly home! At 3pm that afternoon, her mom had labored nearly 40 hours and our flight was scheduled at 6 PM! After going a few rounds with the airline, we changed our flight to the next day. We got to see her and say goodbye and hello at the same time..... we thought! Her dad took us to airport only to find out our flight was canceled till the following day! Her mom called on our way back to the house and said they were being discharged!! We got more snuggles then we all settled in for the night. Around midnight, I went into the main house for water. Every light was on, all you could hear was baby screaming, and the poor new mama was at wits end at the table. She was having trouble feeding her. I said you should have called me. She snapped back What can you do? I said I’ll show you what I can do! Give me that baby, and you go get in a hot shower! She did and was able to feed her when she got out. I said now give her to me and go get some sleep! I laid that baby on my chest and we bonded right then and there, while we napped. She was our first grand, and our only girl. I could never have imagined the blessing grand children can be! I’m so grateful!
