Christmas Day at Tengboche
We woke at half six and opened our presents! Paul bought me a watch which I opened before we left, but he also brought me a little tin of lovely dark chocolates and I bought him a hip flask, bound in brown leather, engraved with his initials and filled with port! Plus, some chocolate coins - couldn't lose that tradition! After breakfast we packed our kit and headed out of Namche towards Tengboche. It was a relatively short walk for us (four hours) but the height gain meant that we couldn't walk any higher that day.
After lunch we went to the Tengboche Monastry and watched the monks in prayer. Christmas Dinner was a plate of vegetables, some chicken and black tea. Then we had a triangle of dark toblerone and a thimble of Paul's Christmas port! In our sleeping bags by 7.30pm - it was freezing cold!!!
