The rest of forever...

Happy New Year!

Well, the eleven mile walk from Namche to Lukla was abit of a challenge for us - the porter said it should take about seven or eight hours but we reckoned we could do it in five. So...we legged it! The first six miles or so were mostly downhill so that was pretty straightforward and we literally ran down. But then...the uphill began! Ouch! I ran out of energy and we didn't have any food with us so the last couple of hours were pretty hard going, but we made it through the gates to Lukla in five hour. Chuffed and knackered!

After rewarding ourselves with a lunch of soup and tea, we sorted all our kit out ready for the flight home in the morning. We pottered through the streets and sat driunking coffee, talking to an English guy we had met earlier in the trek and bumped in to in Lukla. It was very cold in Lukla so after dinner we got straight into our sleeping bags ready for a final night of sleep on our trek. All ready to go home to Kathmandu!
