Better late than never

I had given up hope of receiving a reply to my letter sent to the Prime Minister‘s office.  Today I received this response which, although polite, is rather unsatisfactory. I do wonder about the reference to our relationship with France never having been more important! It will mean that the celebrations of the Franco British Entente Cordiale at the end of September will only be attended by French dignitaries. This will be rather embarrassing. I therefore appeal to anyone in the area at this time who could claim to be in any way a dignitary or an official to don a smart suit and come and join us! Apéritifs included!
