Bakers Walk
A trip to one of my favourite towns - Rochester.
On arrival I climbed the hill to the Castle and consequently felt exhausted. I recovered by having a cappuccino under the tree outside Crepe and Co , a lovely cafe almost next to the Cathedral.
We browsed the interesting independent shops but my energy levels were so low I could not maintain my normal enthusiasm. I had wanted to buy a little souvenir to remember one of the first proper day outs since my surgeries but came home empty handed. Why is my mind telling me I can do one thing but my body is refusing to comply?
We had lunch in our favourite Thai restaurant - Thai for Two - and after a relaxing hour or so wandered back along the High Street. I was not up to visiting the Cathedral and taking part in the mini golf experience up the aisle.
We made sure we visited the textiles exhibition- Bizarre and Curious Silks -at Rochester Art Gallery, where I could sit and admire the extraordinary woven textiles, and watch a short film of the weaving process.
Thd artist is Hannah Robson and the gallery was presenting a selection of her textile pieces exploring the effects of light and shadow in two and three dimensions . She combines weaving with techniques from lace making and basketry using metallic threads.
Her textiles are magnificent and i wanted to explore them by touch, but a notice forbade this sensory feeling. I have made a collage of the pictures I took in the extras.
My other extras are a few Rochester scenes.
