Hope Window
I like stained glass in churches and cathedrals - ancient, old, and modern.
Manchester Cathedral suffered aerial bomb damage in December 1940, and further shockwave damage from the IRA bomb in 1996. Consequently, the stained glass is all post WW2.
In this example Manchester's ubiquitous bee makes an appearance - there are hives on the cathedral roof. There is also the tree of life and seedpods, and textile patterns relating to the cotton industry. In an abstract way.
It is part of the Hope Window, installed in 2016 - the last stained glass window to be installed. Innovation and new life feature as part of the Hope theme. And I guess a lot of reflection has gone into its design :-)
