Day of Reckoning

It’s been a tiring and emotional day. I dropped Alfie and Alice off at school to collect their GCSE results . They came out with their envelopes sealed, choosing to open them at home. It took a while for Alfie to pluck up the courage to look at his letter, I’ve never seen him so nervous. His initial reaction was one of disappointment. He was hoping for more A’s (in old money) but we think he did brilliantly. He has more GCSE’s than D and I put together. Alice was distraught- she didn’t get what she needed to get into her 6th form of choice but she’s looking at retakes. There’s such pressure on these young people, I feel sad for them.
We’re having a celebratory dinner tonight and toasting their future. They’ve worked so hard, they deserve success and happiness.
