Forest Green
We ventured out for a drive today. First stop was the ancient (Saxon) church in Albury Park. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book and dates back to at least 1086. Eileen loved it especially as she is interested in architecture.
The next place was supposed to be less than five kilometres away, but small country roads meant it took nearly half an hour!! Eileen needed a coffee, so we stopped at the only eating place we could see - The Parrot. Something interesting was happening as there were a number of MG car's of various descriptions parked outside. It turns out that an MG car club were holding a meeting there. Eileen has an MG so there was more reason to join a club! The people in the pub were dressed very smartly!
We visited the Farm Shop right next door before getting back in the car to look for the church in Forest Green. I've been twice before with G, but couldn't recognise any of the places. Anyway, we found it not too long later, and I excitedly walked towards it only to discover all the (stained glass) windows had been taken out. They are all being cleaned/restored, in fact, the person doing the work was there carefully cleaning one of the larger windows.
We came home via Shere as I needed a few things for the fridge. A good day, but I was tired at the end of it and went to bed quite early again! I couldn't keep my eyes open to watch the news!
And lastly, if my mum was still around, we'd be celebrating her 80th birthday today.
