Day 1 Gatwick- Venice- Rovnij

We were up at 5 and after the short ride to Gatwick airport we found a quiet corner where Mr PB could start dismantling the bikes. He worked methodically and after about an hour we set off for the check in. I felt quite emotional as the luggage handler accepted our bikes.  Scary!

We had breakfast in Wagamama where it was quiet and very civilised.  The flight was fine and We landed at Venice.  I collected our bag with the panniers and Mr PB retrieved our bike packages.  Another quiet corner found and while Mr PB reassembled the bikes I packed up all the packing tubes and bags.

Leaving the airport was  bit of a maze but Mr PB soon found a cycle friendly route. We cycled into Venice went to what we thought was the port, and believing were ok route wise headed into Venice.  We parked the bikes and had a quick stroll as you can see from my blip. Then walked to the bikes, bought a huge slice of pizza and gelato.  We were both famished.

We went back to what we thought was the port but it turned out that we were totally wrong. Luckily we had loads of time and eventually found the right place to catch the catamaran to Rovnij.  It's a 3 hour sailing hence the long entry. Suddenly i feel very tired. We have had a great day of travelling and looking forward to some more cycling tomorrow
