Bridlington beach
After breakfast and mum opening her Birthday cards and pressies, we visited Nina in the care home. She was on good form and very happy to see us, but I think it must have been more difficult for mum today as this is her best friend since they were 5 yrs old and they should have been sharing these widowed years together travelling and having fun. Dementia is a very cruel disease for everyone.
The rest of the family, 11 of us in total, came round at lunch time and we took the dogs a walk on the beach before heading to the amusements. Brid beach goes on for miles and miles on the south side of the harbour and is all sand with a very low tide. The north side is a shorter pebbled beach and leads to Flamborough cliffs, the Light House, and lots of puffins.
We spent the afternoon 10 pin bowling, playing various games in the amusements, on the dodgems and finally on a speedboat ride. All great fun followed by dinner at home.
I think we can safely say we celebrated mum’s 83rd birthday in family style.
