Wonderful walking

We took advantage of the good weather to recce our route for the next group walk when it is our turn to host.

One walkers can’t do too rough ground because of his back and another can’t do steep gradients, and others can’t go too far. Another is scared of cattle. It also has to allow dogs on the land. We prefer not to have to drive far either. Mr C did a great job and found this walk, only 30 minutes from home, and though it had 800 ft ascent, it was mostly gradual, and the path was not rough. However we did encounter 4 lots of cattle, so one person won’t be happy. We also met a young adder which slithered off the path before I got my camera out.

There was a strong headwind which was a blessing as it could have been a bit hot. The views were stunning. To the east, all the way over a patchwork of fields to the sea, then down into Happy Valley and the Langlee Burn, and west to Hedgehope and Cheviot, the highest hill in the area at around 2800 ft, capped in cloud.

We walked 7 miles which was the most I’d done for months. By the end my neck and shoulders were sore, and I’m tired, but feeling pleased I managed after such a long period of idleness.
