Portmerion
We visited Portmerion this morning, joining a small tour straight away to understand a bit about this strange place.
The coloured buildings were lovely, but I have to admit to being a bit disappointed that the architecture is not true Italian, rather than Trompe-l'oeil - an artistic optical illusion. It was still impressive and we dodged the rain to watch a film about the village in a small cinema about Sir Clough Williams-Ellis who dreamt it all up, in his jaunty knee high bright yellow socks...
There was a little train ride up to the Japanese garden so we jumped on there after a quick cuppa. And then we literally feared for our lives. The bumpy ride was funny for a while until we saw the hill and tight turns where the train nearly tipped over. I was quite relieved to get off in one piece to be honest.
A great day out though - the rain didn't spoil it, and a lively tick off the bucket list.
