Drystone walling Competition
We've had a smashing day in the sunshine at Malham Show, running an orienteering Maze for the children who came in large numbers, many of them having a go at several courses, great fun!
At lunchtime Tony and I took a break and went in search of food, sitting on the straw bales around the main arena to see Mary get a third prize with her young heifer in the Young Farmers' class. Mary's parents are supportive of our club in granting permission for us to hold orienteering events on their land, and Mary is a big fan of orienteering. Whilst we were there, there was also a parade of vintage tractors and I was wishing I had my camera so I took an extra few minutes out from the Maze to go back and blip the drystone wallers at work. Apparently part of the competition was to dismantle the wall correctly first before beginning to rebuild. What a fabulous setting for the Show.
By the time five o'clock came we were shattered and so it has been a quick stew for tea and a good long catch up with Becky and Rob who have been spending the day in their new home doing a few jobs. Becky gave us a tour on her laptop and it is going to be perfect for them and Baby when he arrives.
