Shipdon Pond
A trip to Home Bargains this morning for some sun tan lotion. Went for one thing and came out with ten - all useful stuff though. I love that shop!
Stopped off at Shipdon Pond on the way home - a small local nature reserve and home to many different varieties of birds including mallards, coots, moorhens, house martins, sand martins and kingfishers to name a few.
Between 1837 and 1951 Blaydon Colliery dominated the site. It was then used as a refuse dump. Great to see what has been achieved over the year with careful planting and management. I have included an extra.
