In 2018 sales of vinyl long playing records grew again for the eleventh year in a row, with 4.2 million being sold in the U.K. Aficionados claim that the sound is warmer and less clinical whatever that means,
.I was reminded of this today when good friends in the village gave me coffee and showed me their new turntable.

Of course many music fans, including me, are streaming their music down through the Internet. You don’t have to get up from your chair to turn the record over. I suppose LPs are not too bad. But in the days of my youth when we had 78s, listening to Mahler’s second symphony (over an hour and a half) must have taken quite an effort.
