Finchale Abbey

OK, technically it's Finchale Priory, but Gill grew up here (near Durham) and everyone locally calls it Finchale Abbey. We were really fortunate to get to stay in the converted flat above the shop and tea room in the old farm house right next to the ruins. The gates close at 5 pm and it's very quiet until mid-day the next day. Of course, during they day the place is thronged with day-trippers. 

Bizarre coincidence but good friends from next door practically at home, are also on holiday and were in this area today! So, Daisy got to spend some time with her friends while Gill spent time with her old school friends. I even had a bit of me time, taking photos and reading.
