Time Waits for No Man
I felt I had to get out today, regardless of the heat. There was a summer fair at Donington Le Heath Manor just 18 minutes drive from me. I'd never been there before. Lots of vintage and 'tat' stuff on display, rather overpriced. I bought a GF slice of lemon cake for me and a non-GF cake for Len.
I looked around the gardens. Lovely, full of plants, vegetables, flower and herbs which would have been in a 17th century garden.
The house, originally built in 1291 and substantially refurbished in 1619, has now been restored and is enchanting. Manned entirely by volunteers I understand. They also do a fantastic job in the garden. I bought an annual season ticket for £5 as I shall definitely be going again. The cafe also serves wine and beer.
Sitting at the table, I fell into a long conversation with John, a retired mining engineer who had gone out to Zambia at about the time I went to Botswana. He told me he was a Baptist and promised to pray for me.
Extra is a shot I took this morning with the Lensbaby Composer Pro and Edge 50 pointing straight forward on a miniature posy of sweet peas. Extraordinarily sharp.
