Locomotive 48151

Stratford was visited by another excursion train today.  We only noticed it as we were crossing the road bridge and went down to have a look.

It was causing a little excitement amongst a few serious train spotters, I joined in taking a few photos.  The steam engine was reversing out of the station heading for Hatton, about twelve miles away, where it would be able to turn round and reverse back to the front of the passenger carriages.  Reading the history of the train that was built in Crewe in 1942 for LMS Railways it seems lucky the train existed now at all.  In 1972 it was a heap of rusting junk in a scrapyard in Barry.  A great restoration job has been undertaken and it is now owned by West Coast Railways.  See https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/48151-lms-8151-br-48151/
