A hover fly...

...it's a very big one, a little scary looking.

I took a few dozen pics of him. But this one, he was just taking off and his wings are just beginning to start. And he flew to the next hebe flower.

I had already taken my Blip for today, a bindweed flower...but I chose this instead!

UPDATE:
Decided to put bindweed flower in extras!
We have thunder storms tomorrow, so it might be gone by then!
It might also mean my next door neighbour with the dodgy roof builders who have left his roofing felt flapping since last Thursday (you can see inside his attic space and the fibreglass insulation), inadequately battened down, might need umbrellas indoors...
