Roses in bloom once more.

I was in the garden at 5.30am after a night of interrupted sleep due to our bedroom having accumulated the heat during the day. Even with the windows wide open all night there was hardly a breath of air.
It was such a contrast to feel the velvet cool freshness outside, in the early tinged hues of the sun which had already cleared the horizon.
Some of the roses had a sprinkle of dewdrops.
This afternoon it has now clouded over after a hot morning and midday when the birds became quiet and there was a pervading stillness.
August having a last surprising burst of high temperatures and glorious summer.
Looks stormy from time to time as I write keeping an eye on the possibility of a sudden dash to rescue the last of the washing and fold away the patio umbrella.
I have sticky fingers from eating an apple off our ancient tree, enjoying the taste of summer ripeness.
