'Go Away' Letter
Today a small group of us went to Cuadrilla's headquarters to hand a letter to Francis Egan. He wasn't in but we trust the letter will be given to him.
Dear Mr Egan
We the residents of Fylde, Blackpool, Wyre and Lancashire call upon Cuadrilla to permanently cease Hydraulic Fracking operations at Preston New Road, Little Plumpton.
Whilst we understand that the OGA has ordered a temporary halt after the recent levels of seismic activity, we do not accept that fracking will ever be safe or can be regulated effectively. We have endured enough, emotionally and financially, from the Preese Hall earthquakes in 2011, through to the numerous appeals and legal challenges, to the current intolerable situation we now face. We are not a sacrifice zone and do not accept that any potential economic benefits outweigh our welfare. Our environment and health must be paramount. Cuadrilla have failed to win public confidence or prove their competence. You were repeatedly warned about the geology here and yet you persisted. Residents are alarmed by the number of environmental breaches so far and the constant revisions of your environmental permit. We are now horrified by the quantity and magnitude of induced seismic activity and earthquakes over a very short time frame.
If you really want to “put Lancashire first” you should leave us alone and seek no further changes to the Traffic Light System or seek any extension to your planning permission.
Yours sincerely
Concerned residents
