More visitors today!
The day started foggy, which is a bit unusual in the summer, but the warm air from southern Europe has now reached us and we were promised 25°C, today and tomorrow. The fog soon burned away, the temperature rose, and suddenly it really did did feel slightly Mediterranean! It was very warm as I worked on The Red House, in full sun and I was very happy when Jonna and Gustaf arrived a bit after lunch and I could come down with a clear conscience.
We have been on nodding terms with them for many years, often finding ourselves at the same events and sometimes exchanging a few words, but when we joined the Left Party there they were and we began to talk a lot more, and not always about politics.
Today they brought a lot of produce from their allotment and we used the fine day to sit outside, in the shade, and eat a delicious salad. Eventually the mosquitoes began to appear and we retreated back indoors. In this picture we are are up in Betty's and Jan is showing them some of her artwork.
They have lived fairly adventurous lives and it was fun to hear about some of those adventures. For example Jonna's first trip abroad on her own was as an au pair in London in 1962. She talked about the things she found wonderful (music and the international mix of people she met), the not so good things (racism and class) and the interesting bits and pieces (going to a gay party with a friend as cover for him in case there was a police raid!)
As we waved them off in their 40 year-old camper van I was fairly sure we'd be seeing more of them in the future!
