how do you like them apples?*

This afternoon I spent quite a bit of time in the garden. there's so much to do at this time of year to stop everything looking straggly. The weeds are still growing but a lot of the flowers have died off. Pleasingly, though, the roses I pruned back last month have lots of new buds on them. And apples...well, we are going to be eating a lot of apples again this year. This bucket is just today's Discovery windfalls. D cooked a few up for dessert tonight - sweet enough to eat on their own with a bit of yoghurt and some flaked almonds.
