Abolish the monarchy
The scene in Cambridge’s Market Square at around 6.30pm. A group of baffled commuters on bikes and teenagers called Tabitha doing some middle class ‘protesting’. Hardly likely to rattle parliament into resolving the UK’s constitutional crisis.
The Queen could have denied Boris Johnson’s request to prorogue parliament, knowing the result of doing so reduces the effective time MPs have to block a No Deal Brexit. She’s a secret relative of Jacob Rees-Mogg in a pastel dress. It’s about time we stopped pretending the non-elected royal family has any role to play in such parliamentary procedures, which are rooted in some ancient traditions that should have been abolished centuries ago.
