Flash, Bang

Quite a storm rolled through here tonight.  Lots of flashes and boomers but there wasn't much rain.  This is the third or fourth year in a row I've managed to capture lightning with my quick trigger finger.  I did not use an open shutter to capture it. It's SOOC.  I started out shooting through the front window but had no success.  So I lugged my equipment into the driveway, eventually standing under an umbrella, and caught this...the best one I've ever shot. I know I would have been more successful had I used my faster camera but I'm happy with this one.

I have one more day to accomplish a lot of personal things before my surgery.  Every other day between tomorrow and the 5th of September is loaded with appointments or other obligations.  I'm going to try to make it to the camera club in the morning then wander around southern Arizona to take photos for the magazine I submit to annually.  The deadline is always the first week of October and I need to hit the little towns between here and Mexico.  I probably won't make it all the way to Nogales (the border city) but am going to do my darndest.
