Going Up

So we had planned a low level walk along the lake and back by Steamer. My sister & I wanted to go up though, so planned an early run up on to the hill above Ullswater, back down to the lake and along to the campsite. It was a fair climb up but worth it for the views despite the wind and intermittent showers. We had a refreshing dip in the lake after too, then a second breakfast. 

After a quick trip to the shops we were all heading out for our walk by 12.30. Thankfully a passing driver informed us that the ferries weren't running due to high winds so we quickly changed our plans and did a reverse of this morning's run, with an extra climb up on to the ridge for myself and a couple of the kids.

By the time we were back in the village it was raining quite hard so it was hot drinks in the pub to warm before heading back to the campsite.
