Sudbury silk
I’m afraid I missed a stage in step by step hatmaking! If I’m covering the frame with a soft fabric, I first cover the frame with domette, which is a fabric a bit like an old brushed cotton sheet. This makes the top layer more smooth, and is not necessary when covering with wools or tweeds. This is my top layer of Sudbury silk pinned on the top, which has now been stitched in place, and the side piece added.
The other brightly coloured piece is going to be a free form sculptural hat... I hope!
