Following in footsteps

This is Katie, B and Bs former pupil, stunning bassoonist Amy Harman. She’s making quite the name for herself in the bassoon world. And today she got Katie (and I) tickets to watch her perform a world premier in the closing Gala Concert of the Ryedale Festival. We also got to see Julian Bliss on clarinet, both alongside the orchestra of Opera North. They were completely stunning.

We’d had a wonderful picnic In the grounds of the Hall before the beautiful concert. The people behind us kindly said Katie could sit on my knee for the performance so she could see. She didn’t move, she was totally spell bound. She was delighted when Amy wanted to meet her as well as wanting to talk to B. These are the experiences that really do inspire little musicians....
