The Old Forge (Thursday 29th August 2019)

I applied the built-in camera Retro filter for this, but it just looks normal to me. I don't know what that says. I blipped this maidenhair fern earlier in the year when it was pristine. Unfortunately it got frazzled in the sun when a heatwave took me by complete surprise. I put it in the humid shade of the bathroom where it remained unchanged for a long time, but now the frazzled leaves have turned yellow-gold and new leaves have secretly sprung up on the side facing the window. It seems to be in need of some TLC from a green-fingered person. I brought the plant into the porch to photograph it for Blip. I was going to abstract it for the Thursday challenge but decided against it.

Park Jiha - Thunder Shower (2019)
This is another track from the cover disc that came with the Mojo for October 2019, Mojo Rising 2019, which I gave a second spin to (do you 'spin' CDs?). Park Jiha is a young lady trained in classical Korean instrumentation who represents the music of South Korea, described by Mojo as "a serene mix of sacred minimalism and Korean folk" and suggests we listen out for the yanggeum, a hammered dulcimer. Thunder Shower describes "the gift of unexpected rain in the heat of midsummer".
As Ammar Kalia wrote of it in the Guardian, when he made Philos his Album Of The Month, "Inspired by a sudden summer downpour, it builds layers of the dulcimer to evoke the intensity of falling rain."
There are no more than three instruments on any of the tracks on Philos, all played by Park Jiha.
