Portobello Beach Busk 2019

If you took the weather forecast at face value today you would have gone nowhere near Portobello let along take out your guitars, bagpipes, ukuleles, drums, sound systems, flutes, clarinets, violins and keyboards to name but a few of the delights on offer here today. The wind did blow and nearly toppled the Stiltman from his lofty perch. The  wind-whipped sand, especially around the castle building  competition, peppered and stung with alarming effect, but the rain that promised to wipe out the event never materialised. 

A wonderful time, once again, was had by one and all and hundreds of people came down to the prom today to enjoy the spectacle in all its diversity and anarchic function. There are  no rules. No fees. No hassles at all and the two community Policemen had a very enjoyable shift too.! 

Days like this remind us of the fundamental good that still exists in our society today at family, community and grassroots level right across our United Kingdom.

Thank you to those of you who kindly commented on my 4th Blipday yesterday. You were better informed than me that I had posted 4 years worth of daily Blips but I did have a three year Blipbatical!  It is good to be back and I was sorry to miss the  mini Blipmeet that took place here today!
