Ending Up Covered In Giraffe Slobber

Budapest: Day 7
Our final day in Budapest and at Sushi’s request it was a day at the Budapest Zoo. We weren’t sure what to expect with it being an old city zoo with mixed reviews but as Sushi has a real interest in animals and animal husbandry we decided to go and see for ourselves.

It is a really large zoo, rather old and tired but the animals all looked healthy. Ultimately being in a city, space is limited and we both felt that they could have had less animals with more space for each enclosure. Sushi has got a place doing a week’s internship at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in October and as part of that he has to complete a research project and maybe this visit will give him some material to think about.

For me, the highlight had to be when we got to feed the giraffes. It was totally unexpected and a case of being there at the right time. I just loved it, they were so gentle and so soft that I didn’t even mind ending up covered in giraffe slobber!
