Banana Blossom bees

This is the second time I try to capture the fascinating 'blooms' of the banana tree. This blossom unit sits at the end of the bunch of bananas. The whole unit sits a good meter from the banana bunch and every other day the fleshy purple 'petal' rolls up and reveals some beautiful yellow flowers which the bees just love.

I hope this bunch withstands the invasion of the pesky monkeys. They descend on our garden every few days to steal bananas and taunt the dogs.
