Day 11 Dubrovnik sightseeing
Day 11
Sightseeing today. City walls at 8am when they opened. We were the second in the queue and it was fun watching the workers getting ready for the day. One man brought some cat meat and as soon as he showed up a couple of cats coming running up to him.
The city wall really are impressive but Dubrovnik is heaving with visitors and an early start helps avoid the big tour parties. It took about one and a half hours to go around the walls. It’s a one way system which you can appreciate later in the day. Being early the number of tourists was pleasant.
We then went over to the fort where a wedding was being prepared for later today.
We planned to go up the cable car but it was closed today. So we got the number 17 bus instead and walked the last bit. We stopped to admire the view only to over hear a tour guide telling his group it was the best place to get a view of the city. The war museum in the fort at the top was interesting, the war was so recent. The accounts from people how they were treated were horrible. It’s so hard to think that such atrocities happened in my lifetime. I find it hard to comprehend why there is such hatred for other people.
We walked down the zigzaggy path, it would have been fine if we were not in flip flops!
Back to the apartment, dinner and then we shall have another meander around the city.
