Carlisle Castle

First day of the Hadrian’s way walk. Thanks to everyone for the comments and stars for yesterday’s blip.
We walked just over 16 miles today. I was slightly disappointed not to have seen ‘the wall’ but apparently a lot of the wall on this section was made from mud and turf so obviously doesn’t remain. However, some of the wall was on paths and roads over where the wall was! We had to take a diversion at one point as the river bank had been washed away making it impassable. The weather was lovely this morning but we had 2 episodes of heavy rain and one thunder storm but we arrived in Carlisle in the dry. We met my brother at the station and will be going out for a meal later.
