Whirlpool

Another clear night, and as they are so few round these parts I made the most of it and photographed a few targets well into the early hours. This is the Whirlpool Galaxy also known as M51. It's actually two interacting galaxies and is about 30 million light years away.
I'm reasonably happy with this image although I have a lot to learn, astrophotography is a whole different skillset to photography!
