Down the coast to St Palais for a week. The rental apartment turns out to be ideal. Close to the beach with a swimming pool and a balcony. A shellfish supper was the perfect first evening meal. I thought I knew St Palais. I’ve been going through it for nearly 30 years. But I have already found nooks and crannies I didn’t know about, plus two excellent bakers and a fish shop.
