Pond Life

Even though my old 400mm lens is full of fungus I've been getting on quite well with it while I wait to hear the fate of my MkII that I dropped on the kitchen floor. It felt quite clunky at the flying display yesterday but I got some decent shots.

This dragonfly was ovipositing in our garden pond. The fact that the old lens doesn't focus as quickly or as closely was noticeable. I got only one half-decent shot of it in flight. My image is of the female common darter looking pleased with itself on a twig overlooking the pond.
