The Citadel of Ayr
I had a long walk along the seafront to-day, weather was dry and mild so good to get a good stretch to blow the cobwebs away.
This piece of wall is part of the remains of the Citadel built by Cromwell in 1654 to defend the port and to house 12oo soldiers.
Ayr must have been considered more important in those days as we don't even land fish here anymore!
