Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade

Another lovely day in Portland. This morning I went for a pre-breakfast (well, pre-brunch, as it turned-out) stroll to the smallest park in the world. After said brunch, I used the spectacular Tilikum Crossing to the east bank of the Willamette River. It was the first major bridge in the USA designed to allow access for public transport vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians but not cars. (The qualifying word "major" probably means that it doesn't meet the stringient criteria of www.superlative-walks.com.)

The Eastbank Esplanade is named after a former mayor of Portland.  It passes OMSI (which I assume stands for Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.) Under some of the numerous concrete bridges carrying roaring roads, there was some sort of carpentry contest, accompanied by a vigorous band of drummers, who were a bit loud for some.

Later I crossed the 370 metre long floating walkway, the day's second superlative, it being the longest such walkway in the USA.
