Whitby
Today was the day for heading over to Whitby. We'd aimed to set off around 9 AM, but it was a bit later when we finally got away. The journey went smoothly once we were on the road though - by 1 PM we had parked by the harbour and were enjoying a fish and chip lunch. The weather was showery and unsettled but not absolutely terrible.
Once we had eaten, we went for a walk around the town. Several photos were taken before we returned to the car to go in search of the hotel. My Blip is taken looking down across the harbour.
The hotel, Ruswarp Hall is old on the outside but modern and tasteful inside. It has a slightly spooky atmosphere, but nothing scary - it is probably due to the age of the place. Our room was small but cosy and comfortable. We relaxed for a while, had a light evening snack and then headed back into town on foot via a shortcut footpath between the railway and the river Esk. We enjoyed a few drinks in some of the pubs, including one with large bay windows overlooking the marina. A wonderful view.
We didn't risk the dark footpath to go back to the hotel and opted for a taxi instead. After all that we slept very well in the comfortable bed.
