Snips and Snaps

Off Ye Go!

This is the signpost on Great Hill that points directly to the summit of Winter Hill - my nephews refer to this area as Pauline's Playground and it is. We run on these hills summer and winter and everything in between.

Today Andy completed a round known as Coope's Dozen 18 miles over 12 summits of the West Pennine Moors with about 3,000 ft of ascent. A good training day for a much bigger challenge that he hopes to complete later in the year. We all complete this round at least once a year as an annual challenge, but Andy was going for a fast time as part of his preparations. Being a little younger than the rest of us, we supported him as a kind of relay event so that he could get the time that he wanted which was 4hrs 20mins including stops and just under 4hrs if he took the stoppage out - he was happy with that.

I had the pleasure to be in the company of Mr Coope, the originator of this route. Others completed sections in pairs etc. A great fun day out was had by all in perfect weather. The day is what fellrunning is all about - sharing the hills and mountains, with like-minded folk who will do whatever they can to support any mad challenges that you care to come up with : )

A few more pics from the event here if it's of interest.
