Warehouse
Wide Wednesday: City Architecture
This is one of Bristol's "bonded warehouses". The sight of these large red brick buildings dwarfing their neighbours around the Cumberland Basin will be familiar to those of you local to this part of the world. They are a left over from Bristol's days as a port and tobacco industry centre.
Forgive me if you are bored of British politics, but there is a great tweet at the end of this next bit that really appealed to me ...
Interesting days for those who have an interest (however slight) in British politics. The Government is going to do its best to prevent yesterday's bill taking control of parliamentary business from becoming law, by delaying its process through the House of Lords (filibustering). To do this they have laid a large number of amendments each of which needs to be voted on in turn. Although the Government does not have sufficient majority in the Lords to win, the estimates are that it will take until Saturday morning to go through that process.
So I loved the tweet from Labour life peer Baron Stuart Wood:
@StewartWood
"I'll be having a Jethro Tull themed sleepover party tonight in my Lords office. Each album will be played & discussed in sequence in between votes to break the Tory filibuster. Bring snacks & your favourite Tull accessory (sporran, flute, beard). All welcome across party divides."
Great to see that some people are keeping their heads here :-)
