Cologne

We travelled into Germany over night and docked in Cologne this morning. Our trip was to Brühl to visit Austustusburg Castle and Falkenlust hunting lodge. Very ornate and fascinating buildings. We weren’t allowed to take pictures inside.

After lunch we took the shuttle bus into the city centre, just a few minutes drive. We couldn’t visit the city without seeing the Cathedral. It is an incredible sight and has a very ornate exterior, but is very simple on the interior. I was most surprised.

I have blipped the very ornate door at the Portal of St Mary in the West facade. I could have spent ages looking at it, but would have blocked the exit. It was interesting to see the number of people who rubbed the lion’s nose as they passed.
