On Golden Pond
I always find the patterns in reeds interesting, but I feel this image is more about contrasting textures between the rough of the reeds and the smooth water.
There is also contrast between the vertical lines in the reeds and their reflections against horizontal lines created by waves in the water.
The golden back light from the setting sun just catching the trees on the opposite shore provides a unifying tone over the whole image.
When taking the shot I severely underexposed the image because the light was so intense and I didn't want to lose any highlight detail. I lifted the exposure back in LR and may have taken some artistic license with the result.
