Westchester Lagoon
We started the day at the magnificent Anchorage Museum, which tells the history of Alaska, its people and their art better than any "local" museum I can think of.
Later, I went for a walk along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail (wondering, as I went, why the Alaskans chose to name this scenic trail, with splendid views across the sea and inland to the mountains, after a famous Bolton-born English snooker player of the 1980s.)
I managed to spot a pair of Sandhill Cranes on my return journey.
