The Life Of Ponty Cyclops

Running Rampant At Sardis Road

For the first time in what seems a lifetime I made it to Sardis Road today for Pontypridd v Neath.

Neath have been struggling this season, but Ponty have had their festive season games wiped out due to the lousy weather. So it would be a case of a bit of rustiness at the start?

We needn't have worried. I have to say it was probably the most clinical display I have seen by Ponty this season. The won the game at a canter 36-3. They scored in the first three minutes, and never really looked back. Neath never really threatened the try line, and both our opening tries came from some awful kicking from hand by the opposition.

There were a couple of cracking tries, but the others were far more impressive by the patient build up and going through the phases. The scrum half, Lloyd Williams, controlling the game perfectly.

Fair play to Neath they made a fist of it in the second half, but butchered a clear cut try scoring opportunity after a lengthy period of pressure. They never conceded too many penalties and despite Ponty having a massive territorial and possession advantage, never got a man in the bin.

The game ended as it begun with a Ponty try.

It was good to get out of the house with the camera today. I've put a few more pictures up on Flickr if you want a look.

We've de-Christmas-fied the house this evening ... the living room looks huge again!
